PleasePrEPMe.org, an initiative of HIVE, is a location-based, searchable California PrEP Provider Directory formally launched in November 2015 followed by the release of the Spanish version in January 2016. PleasePrEPMe.org connects consumers interested in taking PrEP to willing providers. Initially, PleasePrEPMe collaborated with partners of existing regional PrEP provider lists in San Francisco (Bay Area PrEP Provider Directory, City Clinic), Los Angeles (DHSP/UCLA LAC PATH-PrEP Collaboration, Get PrEP LA), and San Diego (California Collaborative Treatment Group). User feedback was solicited during every step of the planning process, resulting in a user-friendly, visually appealing site.

After entering a user?s location, the website scans the directory of over 200 PrEP clinics and then maps out the nearest PrEP provider within a 10- to 60-mile radius, tailored by the user. Listings for each provider includes contact information, populations served and accepted insurance plans.

As of February 2016, over 7,000 unique visitors have visited the website, with more than 18,000 page views. It was the project?s goal to register at least one PrEP provider from every county in California. To date, half of the state?s counties have at least one PrEP provider registered in the directory. Also, there is a registered PrEP provider within a 40-mile radius of all California counties except for four: Alpine, Mariposa, Mono and Modoc.

The website also features a section of curated patient resources and provider resources.

Overall, PleasePrEPMe.org fills the access gap for consumers to overcome hurdles with finding a willing PrEP provider, and supports providers in becoming more PrEP-friendly. PleasePrEPMe aims to identify providers in each of California?s 58 counties with a vision to expand PleasePrEPMe to other states and jurisdictions.
