Ms. Linda Scruggs (Director of Ribbon Consulting Group) opens the final symposium session by saying, ?I look to charge you to have an action?what can you do about what you?ve learned today??

This inspirational session weaves together learnings from the day, touching on trauma-informed care, disclosure, criminalization, stigma, and resiliency. Using her expertise in organizational consulting, she charges attendees to make change from the seat they sit in.

Ms. Scruggs asks the group, as change leaders, to make SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound) ?Commitment to Change? Action Plans, and then facilitates a report-back of the newly created action plans.

Silvi Alcivar, owner and poet of the Poetry Store, shares a poem that she wrote in-the-moment to synthesize Ms. Scruggs? closing session. To watch Silvi?s poetry recital, skip to 38:37.

Silvi also wrote a poem synthesizing the symposium day. To watch this poem, skip to 40:39.

This video is part of a series of recordings from HIVE?s trauma symposium, ?Beyond Compassion: Caring for Women with a History of Trauma.?
